Missing in instagram

Has it really been 4 months since my last post? Shame on me! The Summer weather was just too good to miss (no excuse) When we last spoke I was just about to go to my home village fair,  which lead me to meeting friends and villagers I haven't seen for twenty years or more. These chance meetings lead me to a builder (husband of friend) who then did work on our house, we also had new windows & doors as well as painting the outside (TOH) did that and a great job he did too.

All of this is fairly unglamourous, but has been punctuated with nice things too

So in pictures a few of my adventures in my missing months.

The Village fair, bet they regretted that idea!

Make London for a lovely hen do!

What do you call a fast cake...

the view from the John Lewis cafe

On Sunday having spent a good hour browsing in John Lewis (love that shop!) And another half hour having tea and watching the world go by, when we finally emerged on to the chilly streets of Kingston clutching a new bed sheet purchase with a gift token (Egyptian cotton, how posh!)

With a quick browse around TK Maxx, you have to be in the mood for this shop, me, I go there for the bakeware and interiors and look what I found, this lovely tea towel!

Last week we tuned in every night to watch the Comic Relief Bake-off. We thoroughly enjoyed each episode, I even downloaded some recipes to try. I made this little purchase to go towards Comic Relief day funds. The Tea Towels are by Emma Bridgewater and there is several designs to choose from.

I love the bake-off series, It has just the right mix of fun and seriousness with the steely eye Paul and a twinkle eyed Mary, she's a real inspiration to all bakers. Soggy bottoms and all!

On another note, I have finally wrapped my swap partners gift Little Dotty Bird and will try to post on Friday (whoop!)

Holiday Days out :part two

The weather turned out to be utterly fantastic so we packed ourselves off to Deal, on the Kent coast, on the way we stopped of in a small village called Walmer, a nice little spot by the sea. We naturally had a cuppa and made a purchase at the bakers ( well we were on holiday!) I would show you the massive Belgian bun we bought but it didn't last that long!

I forgot to take any photos in Deal!! It was sooo hot, I did manage a rum and raisin ice-cream though!

On our way back we stopped at Samphire Hoe (never heard of it but it was signposted so…) It's a natural haven for wildlife, flora and fauna, created from the chalky residue left over from excavating the channel tunnel. You take a side road and wait at the tunnel entrance, when your light goes green of you go, all a bit odd!

It was really rather lovely and a nice place to stop...

and of course have a cup of tea!

Tea for Three

I spent last Saturday in the lovely company of two good friends, we don't see each other enough, stuff just gets in the way and before you know it months have passed. We normally do coffee and browse the shops, the sort boys don't like! This time we decided to something a bit different, we had a Jubilee cream tea at a nice hotel. The thing about a cream tea is you never think you've had enough until you realise you stuffed full! It lovely way to start the weekend, there was even belated birthday gift, so thoughtful.

The weather has been atrocious this pass week, I really hope it's not been too wet wherever you are and your homes are safe and dry.

Decadence

Today I have been busy, I have tackled that nasty pile of ironing that keeps growling at me from the corner of our spare room, I've been to the post office to posted a parcel for a friend on flickr and forgotten to take a really important letter (doh), I've cooked, cleaned and generally kept myself on my toes.

Then I treated myself to an afternoon film…oh the decadence to sit and watch a film in the afternoon whilst sipping a freshly brewed tea (always from the pot) and nibbling on the goodies that are supposed to be for easter.

Not quite cooking!

Yum

best ever teapot from Habitat with built in strainer

Oh and the film in question…Carry on Constable…brilliant!
