A week away - part two

Why is it a week away is never as long as a week at work?
The last day of our holiday came oh so quickly, we decided to become proper tourists and took
a trip on the " Seaton Tramway" with a strapline like "it's electric!" how could we not?

One you've paid you can go up and down the line to Colyton as many times as you like. I found myself waving a complete strangers and grinning like a mad woman. On arrival we had breakfast in the cafe (bacon and eggs butties washed down with tea!)

Seaton Tramway operates narrow gauge heritage trams between Seaton, Colyford and Colyton in East Devon's glorious Axe Valley, travelling alongside the River Axe estuary through two nature reserves and giving an unrivalled view of the abundant wading bird life.

Me trying to enjoy having my photo taken!

Our last night came soon enough and we were packing up to return home and back to the realities of work :(

Bye Bye Devon x

We stayed at Byre at Bulmoor a converted stable

Missing in instagram

Has it really been 4 months since my last post? Shame on me! The Summer weather was just too good to miss (no excuse) When we last spoke I was just about to go to my home village fair,  which lead me to meeting friends and villagers I haven't seen for twenty years or more. These chance meetings lead me to a builder (husband of friend) who then did work on our house, we also had new windows & doors as well as painting the outside (TOH) did that and a great job he did too.

All of this is fairly unglamourous, but has been punctuated with nice things too

So in pictures a few of my adventures in my missing months.

The Village fair, bet they regretted that idea!

Make London for a lovely hen do!

a bit of making!

Holiday Days out : part three

With the weather still playing ball (!) Bob and I packed out beach bags and heading for Climping, a lovely beachy area nestled between Littlehampton and Worthing in West Sussex. Giving credence to the rumour that we're old before our time, we took a packed lunch, beach chairs, books, change of cloths and of course our windbreak!

We parked our car, made camp and went and got a fresh tea (natch) then spent 4 hours vegged out with our books and nibbles - perfecto!

Our boot fair fabric windbreak, purchased three years ago for the bargalicous sum of £2.50!
A constant beach necessity...

Every now and then a girl needs time just relaxing!

after an afternoon of total relaxation and slight wind burn, feet and knees (?)
we headed for a bite to eat and a meander along the Pier at worthing, then back in the car and home.

Boo...

Cute Camper

A week or so ago we went to a small bike shop called PedalPushers (great name) to get some tyres for my vintage push bike. On the way we passed a handmade sale being held in pub (what's not to love). After ordering the tyres we went to find the pub sale, now this sale was down a road we couldn't seem to get to it by car , so we went by foot with our trusty wits as navigation and we stumbled on this really cute road...

just enough to get a car down and lined by trees.

How fantastic is this camper, the chap working on it and was only to happy for me to take her picture, I love the interior wallpaper and exterior colour!

The sale was very small and a little hard to get any descent photos. But on the way
back we did purchase one thing!

Things I like about summer 1

Some things only are made better with a healthy dollop of sunshine!

alfresco snacks...

yummy berries...

deck chair stripes...

power for my solar lights...

even my cooking looks edible!

These are mint pea and chickpea burgers with tzatziki (sans breadcrumbs)
from the Waitrose recipe everyday menus

You will need

400g Chick peas, drained
300g Marrowfat peas, drained
2tsp mint sauce
200g tub of Tzatziki (although you only need 2tbsp for recipe)
1 egg beaten
50g breadcrumbs
2 tbsp vegetable oil

the method couldn't be easier

chuck chickpeas, marrowfat peas and mint sauce with the tzatziki into a food processor and whizz into a coarse paste and season. Scoop out and mould into burger shapes (as above)

DIp burgers into the beaten egg followed by the breadcrumbs

Heat oil in a large frying pan and gently fry for approx 3 mins each side until golden

Serve with remaining tzatziki and a pitter and a nice fresh side salad.

This only took about 30mins to do so doesn't eat into those all important leisure hours!

It started with a trip to buy some space fillers for our garden from the local farm shop. Our gardens very green at the moment, but with little colour, hopefully the sun will bring out the blooms.

Off for a coffee and a little snack, just to keep my energy levels up, nom, nom, nom!

Home to check on my apple (still there) with a touch of crafting under an umbrella, shielding me not from the rain but the sun…who'd have guessed it after last week?

A flick through the new Homes & Antiques for a little life envy and a whizz round blog land. A perfect day off x
